dc.description.abstractThe article deals with the problem of training foreign language teachers in Ukraine in the twentieth century. The concepts of "vocational training" and "training of foreign language teachers" are discussed, with emphasis on the works of Ukrainian scholars. The importance of using traditional elements of the system of training teachers of foreign languages, such as pedagogical practice, the need for organizing the educational process, the importance of professional self-education and self-development during life, a balanced relationship between general, philological and methodological cycles of preparation, beginners and theorists.en_US
